make-up for chemo, natural skincare for female hair loss

Skincare for women undergoing chemo

Welcome to our collection of natural skincare products put together specifically for women experiencing sensitive skin conditions, possibly as a consequence of undergoing treatment.  Most women find they have to re-evaluate their make up for chemo, even if we have a daily moisturising skincare routine we've done for years. There are always times when our skin needs an extra intense moisture boost and this is one of them, and it can be really helpful to have a little ‘insider knowledge’. There are more and more great natural skincare ranges arriving on the scene, although often not widely available on the High St.   There are no ‘miracle properties’ just products that are a joy to smell and use, offering a pure treat for your skin.  If you’ve been advised to avoid certain products or ingredients in products whilst undergoing treatment, you will find each product has their ingredients listed.  (If you are still unsure, we would recommend that you check it out with a member of your radiotherapy or care team.)  In our product selection we have tried to avoid products using any of the following chemicals – SLS, SLSE, petrochemicals, Phthalates, DEA, MEA, TEA, PEG, Phenoxyethanol, Parabens, synthetic preservatives and colours, aluminium salts and alcohol.

We’ve tried to compile a range of really useful items, gentle in formulation (often developed for eczema prone skin), that can help make life a little more bearable when coping with treatment side effects.  Whether it be lip balms for dry, cracked lips or deodorants that are aluminium salts and scent free, if you’ve been left thinking how will I get through the summer deodorant free!  More and more press commentary is appearing as to the suitability of certain ingredients found in cosmetic and skincare products that we use daily.  And indeed many of the High St brands are changing their formulations, as women demand a more natural approach.  Often these small natural brands are overlooked, yet they are producing some unique natural products of the highest quality for sensitive skincare.

Just such a brand is Unica, founded by Sonia Valentini as a result of her own intolerance to High St products. They have developed a range of gentle moisturising creams packed full of goodies such as – healing rosehip oil, organic shea butter, and calendula (scoring highly for its anti-flammatory and soothing properties).   Take a look at the individual product notes but some also contain prebiotics, which help fight infection.  The company prides itself on using 100% natural ingredients for its products, many of which are organic. Genuinely pure skincare products at a great price (when considering the quality of ingredients contained within the jar).

Green People, a long established natural skincare and cosmetics brand that has won numerous beauty industry awards, including 2009/10 Green Beauty Bible Winner! and 2010 Natural Health Beauty Awards - Highly Commended for their Aloe Vera Natural deodorant.  We’ve selected this award winning range of deodorants for inclusion in the range after road testing it ourselves, and concur this is easily the best natural deodorant we’ve found to date.  Read on to check out the natural fragranced and no scent options.
