Summer In The City

…dressed so fine and looking so pretty

Yes, the summer sunshine has got us in a good mood in the Suburban Turban studio. But more importantly ‘Yes!’ – you can look pretty and fine with female hair loss this summer! Doesn’t the sunshine make a difference – wonderful, uplifting stuff but with balmy temperatures comes a change in headwear tactics. If you’re wearing a wig ‘full time’and feeling it is summer time but ‘the living is…ain’t easy!’ Or if you’re thinking brimmed hats, but how do I work that look round the supermarket? Well, we’re here to tell you! Our new range of Mila hats just in, are literally paper thin i.e. 0 tog factor. Made from cotton organdie they can fold away into a bag (when not required) and worn with a lightweight silk scarf, you have two great ‘cool’ looks in one. A brim can be bliss to shade dry, eyelash free eyes and keep the sun off. Combined thickness of both items you could almost play a comb through! This is stylish headwear with minimal adaption for confident female hair loss wear, in great colours to get you looking and feeling gorgeous!

Silk is a fabulous fabric to wear at this time of year. It feels weightless on your head, it breathes beautifully and the spectrum of colours available, add a really pretty feminine touch to summer headwear. Our silk tying headbands (90cms square) are featured here with the Mila hat and they come in a beautiful range of hand dyed colours. You can tie them in a variety of ways and they look equally good with jeans and an indie top, or a summer tea dress and brimmed hat. Because of the fine silk fabric they add minimum bulk around the head and therefore won’t alter your head fitting so much, that you can’t fit them under your hats.

Our new linen cloche, Maisie, looks very 1920’s and offers super low coverage at the back, in a neat, unfussy sort of way. (You can unpin the flower and move it round the hat or not wear it at all, or put it between your teeth if you are thinking of dancing the Charleston!) Unlikely I know. Jilly is our latest soft fabric trilby style which is so easy to pull on and wear. Small brimmed styles always seem to cut a dash and look savvy – the trick is finding one in a casual style for a suitably summery look. Jilly is one of our Breeze Wear designs, so no need to wear anything underneath the hat, it is specially designed and cut nice and deep for hair loss. Made in soft viscose jersey it gently hugs the head securely, so even in a stiff sea breeze it isn’t going anywhere. (Something to consider if you are going away and don’t want the hassle, stretch fabrics stay put!)

If you are thinking of planning a break away, don’t forget to pack a good selection of headscarves – holiday essentials for female hair loss. Cotton, for daywear if it is going to be warm and possibly something dressy for the evening like silk or synthetic mixes. Scarves are great poolside/summer wear – only this month in ‘In Style’ magazine they were discussing ‘Poolside-Perfect Hair’. Protecting a sensitive scalp and disguising unwashed hair! So perhaps this is the real reason Joan Collins wore turbans for so many years! Take a look at our tie guides to check out chic head wrap styles. Once again they create the right sort of casual look that doesn’t immediately suggest hair loss. You do need to protect your head if you are considering going out in the sunshine for any length of time. Your scalp can be a sun sensitive area, even without the added dimension of treatment. We wish you a balmy summer, filled with sunshine and opportunities to meet up with family and friends. I hope you discover your new look for summer and stay as cool as a summer cucumber!
